Self deployment by John (HT12), who came across an RTC on Cole Green Lane near Smallford whilst returning from work. A woman had skidded, hitting and knocking down a telegraph pole, her car crashed onto the verge and overturned . Three other persons had already stopped and called the emergency services when John arrived. He blocked the road with his vehicle as there were phone lines strung across the road. The driver had somehow managed to crawl out of her wrecked car and whilst not seriously hurt, she was very shaken up. She was cold and John wrapped her in a blanket and placed her in his vehicle to keep warm.
The Police arrived on scene first and asked John to keep his vehicle in position, he was able to brief them on 4x4 Response, so a good opportunity for increasing awareness. Ambulance and Fire then turned up and after the driver had been taken off to hospital, John was thanked for his actions by the Police and stood down at 00:48

D10/43 Sunday 24th January 2010 16:45

Self deployment by Tony (HT01), whilst returning from a mountain bike event in Thetford Forest, luckily in convoy with two paramedics from the event, from Extreme Medical, when they came across a four car collision. A Ford Focus travelling on the wrong side of the road had hit three others head on.
The Paramedics placed their Discovery 3 ambulance at the head of the site and Tony placed his Defender at the rear in fend off positions to protect the scene. They then went to assist what was expected to be multiple casualties, as one car was one its roof in the trees at the other three seriously damaged. Amazingly nobody was hurt with the exception of two people with very slight grazes.
The Police and Ambulance Service were quickly on the scene and the three were able to hand over. All were thanked for their assistance.
